For the Health of It: Reflexology
Although those in practice do not refer to it as another type of reflexology but an entirely different method borne out of a fusion of two principles, reflexology and Ayurveda, the traditional Indian health system. Ayurveda is of two Indian words; 'Ayur' or life and 'veda' or knowledge. The term roughly means the knowledge of life. The pressure points for the testicle and ovary are found on the hands only. Within the pressure point of the fallopian tube, groin and iliac lymph nodes, directly above the wrist bone is the area for the testicle and ovary. It is just a small area which would probably feel like the tip of one's tiny finger. It is interesting to note that alternative as it is, reflexology, herbology and such has been around longer than mainstream medicine has. Reflexology has been in practice a thousand years before, though it cannot be said from which continent it did originate because the Egyptians, Chinese and Japanese have been using it practically at the same time the world over. And there are concerns too that will require for the person to work on the hands. If the practitioner starts working on the feet, then the person will be asked to lie down fully clothe and the shoes and socks removed. There will be the washing of the feet first with warm water as a way to start the sessions. A Brief History Of Reflexology Reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt, as shown by carved pictographs with accompanying hieroglyphics that were discovered by archaeologists in Saqqara, Egypt. The engraved images that were found in a tomb of a physician named Ankhmahor depict two men holding the feet of two other men, with inscriptions that imply that two of them were conversing. And this was made possible by a therapist named Eunice Ingham. Ingham has boosted the initial study that was made by Fitzgerald and took off from that. Based on her observations, she said that the tension that can be felt in the foot can also be mirrored in the tension on another part of the body. In a way, during that time she managed to make that connection between organs to the foot area.
