The Best BBQ Pitmasters of the South | Southern Living

One piece of equipment that is already a permanent fixture in any barbecue party is the grill. Grills are used to cook the meat. It has a heat source, which can either be gas, electric or charcoal; a cooking grate; and of course a body that holds it together. The most basic grill of course is the one that uses charcoal. A catalyst or lighter fluid ( lighter usually does the trick) a good serving of the stuff on your coal would make igniting it much easier. And last but not least, the ignitor. For those outdoorsman type flints are quite essential. A flint is the same thing that we have in our Zippo lighters. That the thing the sparks ok? This is evident with the way they celebrate their fourth of July independence. Still, although most people love barbecue food, not everyone can cook great barbecue. This is why barbecue restaurants and joints have mushroomed all over the country to fill up this need. But with the many barbecue restaurants to choose from, how will you know which place to go? There are theories but the reason behind all theories is that simplicity of design and the ease of process are what take the cake. There are differences in approach but the core of the way it is done remains rock solid. In every part of the world there are people that cook out every weekend and enjoy a nice family get together. Although cooking with barbecue smokers can be mightily slower than perhaps a barbecue grill, you can be sure that the flavor of the meat will be enhanced more. Like grills, barbecue smokers also come in different types depending on the fuel being used. There are gas barbecue smokers, which runs on natural gas. The only difference between them is that smokers have indirect heat source. In fact, the reason it is called smokers is because, it is actually the heat produced by the smoke that cooks the food. Smokers also come in different types. There are smokers that run in gas while others use charcoal. Although, only a few buy electric smokers for their home, this piece of equipment can offer something that the other types cannot.
