The bagua is octagonal in shape to represent the eight points of the compass. This is so because the eight compass points represent the different energy levels that one is supposed to attract. In Feng shui, the bagua corrects the orientation of an edifice or a village and is supposed to enhance the quality of life of people living in it. But then the constant rubbing of elbows of the employees could either result in office politicking, tension and friction that are also contributors to time wasters. The Feng shui office layout tries as much as possible to veer away from the typical designs. As with everything else related with Feng shui, the main concern will be harmony and the harmonizing of all the elements as well and allowing the free flow of the chi which in turn results to the feeling of well being of its occupants. The principle is that there should be no sharp edges and protrusions that should be directed towards a Feng shui house. There should also be no trees and other obstructions blocking the front of your house, including tall buildings. This will prevent the natural flow of chi and will exert pressure on those who live in it. It would then only be practical not to adopt a color that one is not comfortable with. This is more so if the color serves to aggravate the people to whom these zones are intentioned. The zone of wealth is a place that speaks of power. Improve the energy generated here by having purples and violets. You can also highlight this area with gold and red. As much as possible, avoid placing materials that represent the earth like, clay and rocks. The Northeast is for enhancing spirituality, meditation, and inner journeys it also helps intellectual growth, reading and knowledge. This is the place where you place earth materials, rock gardens, and equipments that are used for repairing, statues and where you refrain from having plants and trees. Open doors and windows every now and then, this will let the stale air out and the fresh ones in but clean the dust as soon as you can. Never let air openings be closed for long periods at of time, as this will prevent the chi from entering the house. Keep toilet doors closed even when they are very clean.
