The pitching team s goal is to catch the hit ball and try to arrest batters or runners who are making their way to go to bases (there are four of them, including the home base, the last destination). Failure to do so would make the batting team s players safe. The scoring system is quite simple. The batter needs to hit the ball and then go to the four bases while the pitching team strives to get hold of the ball. Generally, this is done when there are no outs yet and a runner is on first base. The batter will bunt his bat (not hitting it the usual way but allowing the ball to hit his outstretched bat). The bunt causes the ball to dribble along the foul line. This gives the first or third baseman to run toward the plate to field the ball. Players should never walk behind other throwers, they should throw in the same direction, and partners should make eye contact before making a throw. 5. Batting - To avoid any injury, players must stay clear of players who may be swinging bats. A player planning to swing must check all around him or her to make sure that no one is in jeopardy of being hit. For the defense, the pitcher starts the game by throwing the ball to the home plate. If the ball is not hit by the player of opponent s team, the catcher (of the defense team) catches it. There are four infielders and three outfielders completing the rest of the team on defense. A defense team has four ways to eliminate an offensive player. To begin the game, the pitcher starts to throw the ball way beyond the batter to hit the catcher s glove. The batter can also hit the ball for the action to roll in. When the ball is hit, there are eight people that are known as fielders who will try their best to catch it. If they are successful with it, they will try to throw out the batter to hinder this person from reaching the base. Most coaches use the trick of utilizing four dots with different colors. Each of the catcher s shoulder guards and knee will have one dot. As the catcher makes a call, the pitcher should be able to throw the ball on each colored dot and they must hit all four dots using six balls. 3. Fielding comes next to teach the players various tactics to win the game.
